A busy summer and first two months for The Training Room!

The Training Room has officially been put through its paces.

After a summer spent getting the space ready, we opened the doors officially at the start of September. Over the last few weeks, we’ve welcomed teams, small business owners and plenty of new faces, topped off with a full house for our very first Beyond the Basics workshop.

Here’s a little look at what’s been happening so far.

Why we built The Training Room

Digital can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re busy running a business, managing a team or keeping a charity going. We wanted to create somewhere people could ask questions, learn directly from people who work in digital every day and apply what they learn to their own organisation.

This isn’t training for the sake of training. Every session is designed to be hands-on, tailored and relevant to the people in the room.

Teams through the doors

Some of our first visitors were teams from Sunderland Bid and Oasys joining us for tailored Team Training workshops.

Each session was built around the organisation’s own goals, platforms and challenges. Instead of working through generic examples, we looked at the real issues each team was facing and made sure everyone left with clear next steps.

Stepping away from the usual inbox and back-to-back meetings makes a difference too. It gives teams the time and headspace to properly focus on the training, and go back with a shared understanding of what happens next.

A full house for SEO & GEO

On 30 September, we held our first in-person Beyond the Basics workshop, SEO & GEO: Search Beyond Google. And it was fully booked.

We spent the day getting stuck into how people find businesses through search engines and, increasingly, through AI tools, and what that means for your website.

A full room meant plenty of questions, plenty of discussion and a good mix of businesses around the table. Everyone had time to work on their own website, fuelled by a cracking lunch from Crave, and left with ideas they could put into practice straight away.

Of course, we couldn’t let our first workshop go by without getting a few photos.

A good mix around the table

From tailored team training to shorter sessions for small business owners and a full day on SEO & GEO, we’ve already had a brilliant mix of people through the doors.

Best of all, it’s been great to see the space being used for exactly what we created it for.

“I feel like we’ve won the Lottery.”

Not because a website solves every business challenge overnight, but because the right one can make everything feel clearer, simpler and much more possible.

In a similar situation? We’re here to chat, no matter what stage of the process you’re at. 😊

And we’re only just getting started

One month in, The Training Room is already doing what we hoped it would. It’s helping people feel more confident with digital and giving them something useful to take back to their work.

Whether you want to build your own skills on our Beyond the Basics courses, train your whole team or simply ask a few questions, we’d love to welcome you through the doors.
