We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Recite Me, Sunderland City Council, and MMC Research to deliver an unmissable session on digital accessibility at Sunderland City Hall on 24 November.
This event lands at exactly the right moment. With the Equality Act, the upcoming European Accessibility Act (EAA), and continually evolving WCAG standards, accessibility is no longer a “nice to have”. It’s now an essential part of your business. Organisations that don’t prioritise inclusive design risk losing customers, missing out on talent, and falling behind the competition.
There’s only one week to go and there’s already over 60 people booked on. It’s going to be an insightful session, attendees will hear directly from leading experts who will share practical advice, real examples, and step-by-step guidance to help teams make meaningful improvements to their websites. We’re covering everything from designing for disabled or older users to actually breaking down and explaining the new legal obligations, so businesses can have understanding and clarity on what matters and how to get started.
As part of the event, Recite Me and Phonetic Digital will also be offering free accessibility checks of attendees’ homepages. This means every attendee will leave with a personalised plan that explains exactly where they stand and where to focus their efforts.
Speaking about the event our MD Steven Parker says:
“As a Sunderland-based specialist digital agency, it’s great to be bringing together leading voices across the topics of web accessibility and digital inclusion. This free to attend event is the first that we’re aware of in the North East to focus purely on web accessibility and digital inclusion. Sunderland City Council are an award-winning smart city and continue to set the benchmark for other cities by leveraging digital technology for social good. This aligns with our approach to building accessible-first inclusive web applications, and our B Corp® values.
“Recite Me are a brilliant example of a tech business based in the North East who are highlighting and furthering the conversation of web accessibility. A lot of effort has gone in to curating the speakers and the content, it’s going to be a really valuable event.”
Ross Linnett, CEO of Recite Me also added:
“Ensuring digital accessibility isn’t just about meeting legal obligations, it’s an opportunity for businesses to better serve all customers,”
This event reflects what we care about most. Creating digital experiences that genuinely work well for everyone. Judging by the early interest from local businesses, there’s a real appetite in the North East for guidance on this topic.
The session is still open to all North East businesses or anyone looking to take meaningful steps towards providing a more accessible digital service. It’s a chance to connect, learn, and walk away with actionable insights you can start using right away.
