Sweeney Miller Law is a North East-based law firm supporting individuals and businesses across a wide range of legal services, including property, family law, employment and commercial matters.

The team approached us to refresh the look and feel of their existing website, bringing it in line with their updated branding through new colours, a refreshed logo, shapes and icons.

On the surface, the changes were relatively straightforward. But once we got under the bonnet properly, it became clear that the existing site setup was making those updates more difficult than they needed to be.

Rather than simply changing how the website looked, we saw this as an opportunity to improve how it worked too. The goal became to deliver the visual refresh Sweeney Miller needed while also creating a faster, lighter and more usable website for the people visiting it.

We introduced Sweeney Miller’s updated branding across the website while reviewing what was happening behind the scenes taking the time to identifying opportunities to improve performance.

A particular focus was mobile performance. On the old website, the most important content on the pages we tested could take roughly 11 to 22 seconds to appear on mobile. On the refreshed site, this dropped to approximately 1.5 to 3.9 seconds.

Desktop performance improved too. The main content previously took around 2.3 to 4.2 seconds to appear across the pages tested. Following the refresh, this reduced to approximately 0.7 to 1.3 seconds.

We also reduced the amount of data the website needs to load. With less happening unnecessarily in the background, visitors can access content more quickly, particularly when browsing on mobile connections.

The refreshed website now delivers a much stronger experience for users.

Pages load more quickly, key content appears sooner and visitors spend less time waiting for the site to become usable. That makes it easier for people to browse legal services, find important information and get in touch with the firm.

The improvements also support wider digital performance. Faster, lighter pages can help reduce users leaving the site early, improve usability and support SEO, while giving users a smoother experience across both desktop and mobile.

From a visitor’s point of view, the visual changes between the old and refreshed website may appear relatively subtle.

Beneath the surface, the difference is much bigger.

Sweeney Miller now has a website that is faster, lighter and easier to use, while also reflecting its updated brand identity more consistently online.

By looking beyond the visual refresh and improving the performance of the site at the same time, we were able to create a digital presence that better represents the business and gives users a much stronger experience.
